Open Google Drive on your browser and sign in with your Google account.
Click on New at the top left corner and then click on File upload.
Select the Word file that you want to convert from your computer and click on Open.
Wait for the upload process to complete. You can check the progress by clicking on the Cloud icon at the bottom right corner.
Once it’s done uploading, you will see your Word file in your Google Drive folder. Double click to open the file.
Your Word file will open in a new tab.
In the open Word document, click File then Save as Google Docs. You have now converted your Word document to a Google Doc.

How to convert Word to Google Doc on Android or iPhone

Here are the steps to convert Word to Google Doc on Android or iPhone:

Download and install the Google Drive app and the Google Docs app on your Android or iPhone if you haven’t already.
Open the Google Drive app and sign in with your Google account.
Tap on the Plus icon at the bottom right corner and then tap on Upload.
Select the Word file that you want to convert from your device and tap on Open.
Wait for the upload process to complete. You can check the progress by tapping on the Cloud icon at the top right corner.

Tap on the Word file to open it.
