How to transfer Google Photos from one account to another
Method 1 – Transfer Google Photos to another account manually
- Open Google Photos on your computer and sign in with the account that has the photos you want to transfer.
- Select the photos you want to transfer by clicking on them.
- To select all photos, select the first photo, scroll to the last one, hold the Shift button, and select the last photo.
- After choosing the photos, click on the More options icon (three vertical dots) in the top right corner. Then, choose Download.
- You will download a zip file containing your selected photos to your computer. You can unzip it and save the photos in a folder of your choice.
- Sign out of your current Google account and sign in with the account you want to transfer the photos to.
- Open the Google Photos again and click on Upload at the top right corner.
- Choose Computer and then select the folder where you saved the downloaded photos.
- Wait for the upload process to complete. You can check the progress by clicking on the Cloud icon at the top right corner.
Method 2 – Transfer Google Photos to another account using Partner Sharing
You can share photos with another Google account using Partner Sharing. You can share photos of specific people or your entire photo library.
- Open Google Photos on your computer and sign in with the account that has the photos you want to transfer.
- Click on Sharing on the left sidebar and then click on Get started under Partner Sharing.
- A popup will appear where you can choose a starting date and the photos to include. Set your preferences and click Next.
- Select the email address of the account you want to share your library with. Or type it in the search field and click Next.
- Review your settings and click on Send invitation.
- Sign out of your current Google account and sign in with the account you want to transfer the photos to.
- Open Google Photos again and click on Sharing on the left sidebar.
- You should see an invitation from the other account. Click on View invite.
- A popup will appear prompting you to accept or decline the invite. Click on Accept.
- Google Photos will prompt you to share back. You can click Not now if you don’t wish to share back or Next if you want to share back with the other account.
- Now you will see all the photos that the other account shared, but they are not saved. To save them follow the next steps.
- In the top left corner, click on Turn on auto save.
- Choose whether you want to save all photos or only photos of specific people (if the feature is turned on) and click on Done.
Method 3 – Transfer Google Photos to another account using Shared Albums
This method is flexible and easy, but it also limits the number of photos and videos you can share per album to 20,000:
- Open Google Photos on your computer and sign in with the account that has the photos you want to transfer.
- Click on Albums on the left sidebar and then click on Create album.
- Give your album a name and click on Select photos.
- Select the photos you want to add to the album by clicking on them. You can also upload photos from your computer. Do this by clicking on Select from computer in the top-right corner.
- Once you have added the photos, click on Done at the top right corner.
- Click on the Share icon at the top right corner. Then choose whether you want to share the album via a link or an email invitation.
- If you choose to share via a link, click Create a link, copy the link, and send it to the other account. If you choose to share via an email invitation, enter the email address of the other account and click on Send.
- Sign out of your current Google account and sign in with the account you want to transfer the photos to.
- Open Google Photos again and click on Sharing on the left sidebar. You should see the shared album from the other account.
- Click on the album and then click on Join.
- Click on the Save photos icon to save the photos to your account.
